Yeah, a big thank you!

I'm being very sarcastic in the title as you will soon tell from my rant. I'm here to complain about a certain segment of our society that truly bothers me. I really wonder what these people are thinking and wish something could be done to stop them. I'm talking about people that knowingly and willingly take their sick kids out and purposely expose them to other kids. I'm talking about the kids that are so obviously sick that every other human in the vicinity cringes at the sight and sound of the child. Here are a couple of recent examples.
1. We're at the zoo on one of the milder fall days. The otters are out playing in their habitat. Christie and 2 other tots are gleefully watching. A knowing infector comes in pushing a stroller, one kid asleep, the other about 5 sucking on a lollipop jumps out to watch the otters. The kid lets out one of those coughs...you know the ones, where the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The infector then asks, "gee honey is that sucker helping your sore throat at all?" All I have to say is, Hey Typhoid Mary next time why not stay home with your kid instead of dragging her out and infecting the other kids at the zoo.

2. At a recent swim lesson for Christie. There are 6 little girls in the class (ages 3-4) Usually all the girls tend to splash and giggle while waiting for the instructor. This day one of the girls looks really tired and is just kind of sitting in a chair waiting. Class starts, Mr. Paul has them do the usually stuff...helping them to float, blowing bubbles, putting their face in the water, kicking. Just as he was about demostate what they will practice next, he frantically tells them to all climb out and head to the pool shower. Turns out the girl that was "tired" had an accident in the pool. The infector knew the girl had a stomach bug, but didn't want her to miss out on the fun of the class.

3. At Christie's preschool class. The way this class worked, the moms/dads had to stay in the building, while the class was in session but not in the classroom. Usually all the moms (and dads) would congregate in the main lobby and chat. In this group of about 8 or 10 there were 2 of us pregnant, 2 moms with infants in the 9-11 month range and a mom with a 2 month old. Now I kid you not about this, but there was a Knowing Infector in the group that was actually proud of this. She brought her son one week with an obviuos bad cold. He was really whiny, looked pathetic, and his face and shirt certainly could have used several tissues. Proud infector told the rest of us, that yea he had a cold, but she had to bring him out to do something because she couldn't put up with being cooped up with him at home anymore. She went on to talk about how whiny and miserable he behaves when he is sick that she can't keep him at home or it will drive her nuts. While most of us sat slack-jawed at her unbelieveable decision-making, the mom nursuing the 2-month old infant sarcastically thanked her for exposing germ-boy to the rest of our kids (as well as the siblings) Infector, who certainly won't be winning any mom of the year awards soon, replied with a "who cares, it's not that big a deal, it's only a cold!" Guess it's only a big deal to her if she has to actually deal with her son when he's sick at home.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. Blame it on the pregnancy hormones if you will, but I truly have a hard time dealing with the idiots of the world.
