Maybe sometimes, things actually work out.

Maybe sometimes, the reward comes when you've just about lost faith and hope.

Maybe sometimes, when you least expect it, when you've given up expecting it, the happy ending comes along.

Maybe sometimes, it's worth taking that shot in the dark.

You may remember this blog entry from sometime ago. After literally years of waiting and reaching out, the situation had seemed hopeless. Being incommunicado was a gross understatement.

I am very happy to report that the situation has changed.

Yesterday, we received a very nice letter from our friend, explaining where he'd been and what had happened to him. Most importantly, it told us that the essence of the person we once knew still existed after all, and that we would have the chance to know him again.

I don't know whether the blog entry made a difference. It may be a little bit conceited and maybe a little too "Hollywood" to think that. It's kind of nice to think that way, but ultimately it doesn't matter. What does matter is that we got a friend back, and that's really something to feel good about.
