And That's A Great Big Meeeeechigan Victory!

Pummelled.

Throttled.

Thrashed.

Destroyed.

Stomped.

Mission accomplished.

I may have openly hoped for it, but I certainly did not expect such an easy victory to actually happen. 38-0. Over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. How much of a blowout was it?

Michigan gained over 3 times as many yards than Notre Dame.

On one drive, Michigan ran 20 plays and held the ball for 10:25. That's the longest drive in Michigan football history.

In the first half, Michigan scored on 3 straight possessions. They did that again in the second half.

The second string came in to do "mop up duty" with 11:01 left in the game. Ultimately, the third and fourth string players got in too. My friend Katy got to see her friend, a walk on tight end, actually get to play in the last part of the game. How cool is that?

And was it ever enjoyable! Every Michigan drive, rush and defensive stop was cheered as if it was a meaningful play. And to be brutally honest, the game was so far out of reach that none of the plays were meaningful. But the Michigan faithful still cheered on, as if taking out all the years of frustrations that this Notre Dame team have caused us over the years. Very few of the NCAA record 111.726 left until the end, electing to stay and soak it all in.

Well, that's not entirely true. Many Notre Dame fans were seen leaving in droves starting in the 3rd Quarter, presumably to get a head start on the 4 hour drive home to South Bend. 4 hours...that's a long time to think about this. I'd hate to be in that situation.

The sense of satisfaction is almost overwhelming, much like that night when the Red Wings blew out the Avalanche 7-0 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. A thorough thumping of a team considered your nemesis...does it get any better than this in the sports world?
