The Werewolves Fall Silent

Warren Zevon passed away yesterday.

As every news obituary has said, Zevon was best known for the song "Werewolves of London." But like many artists, he was more than just a one song wonder with a huge body of work, many of which were probably better than "Werewolves," and a lot of famous friends. His wit and dark sense of humor were always on display in his songs. Zevon had terminal cancer, but lived long enough to work on his final album. It was an album where he basically got to say goodbye, which was just released a couple of weeks back.

Zevon's music was the source of a lot of great college memories for us, and when these things happen, you realize that a chapter in your life has closed. But you also get to revisit and enjoy some of the good old days for which the music was a backdrop. And I think that having that music be part of special times in our lives, in other people's lives, is what an artist dreams about. So I think that's as good a tribute as any to the great artist that he was.
