Sort of an Announcement
"Christie?"
"Huh?"
"Do you like Baby Kurt?"
"Huh?"
"Do you like Baby Kurt?"
"Yeah...he's a good baby. I play with him?"
"You can play with him soon."
"Ok."
"Christie?"
"Huh?"
"Do you know where babies come from?"
"Huh?"
"Babies grow in a mommy's tummy."
"Huh?"
"Like Baby Bear. Do you remember the Baby Bear video? He had a little baby brother that was in his mommy's tummy."
"Yeah...like Baby Kurt."
"Christie?"
"Huh?"
"Would you like to have a little baby?"
"Ok!"
"There's a baby in mommy's tummy."
"Huh?"
"There's a baby growing in mommy's tummy right now."
Christie sat on the couch for a moment...thinking...processing the words. She looked over at Lisa on the other couch, then looked at me quizzically. Finally, her expression changed from puzzled to determined as she decided on a course of action. With a definite goal in mind and curiosity to satisfy, Christie hopped off the couch and climbed next to Lisa. Stretching the collar of Lisa's shirt, Christie peered inside, looking for a sign. Confused, she let go of the collar and turned her attention the the bottom of the shirt. She reached down and pulled it up to examine Lisa's stomach.
"I don't see baby."
"The baby's inside mommy's tummy, sweetie. You'll have to wait a few months until you can see him...her...the baby."
"Huh?"
"You'll have to wait to see the baby."
"Oh....I watch cartoons now?"
"Huh?"
